Description |
This
course builds on the material covered in H6514 Internet and Web
Technologies to focus on the development of Web-based information
systems and Web services, server-side application scripting, XML
technologies, and Web server administration. Topics covered include
- Server-side
scripting for Web interactivity using C# and ASP.NET
- Professional
Web system development tools (e.g. Visual Studio)
- Technologies
and architecture of Web-based information systems
- XML
technologies and applications

Objectives |
At
the end of the course, students are expected to:
-
be able to design and develop a simple interactive Web application,
using ASP.NET
- be
able to develop simple XML applications
- be
able to implement a Web service
- write
simple server-side scripts for Web interactivity, using C#
- have
a basic knowledge of XML technologies and applications
- be
able to describe the main applications of XML and Web services
- be
able to set-up and administer a Web server
- understand
Web security problems and issues, and how to address them
